Team USA is off to a hot start at the 2023 World Para Ice Hockey Championships, outscoring Czechia 7-1 this afternoon in Group A action at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

Travis Dodson had the hat trick for the Americans, while Kevin McKee added three assists.

Filip Vesely had the lone goal for Team Czechia.

Team USA is off to a 1-0 start, while Team Czechia falls to 1-1.

Up next for the Americans is a matchup with Korea Tuesday afternoon, while Czechia faces off against Canada Tuesday night.

In the afternoon game, China moved to 2-0 in Group B with a 5-1 win over Norway. 

Zhi Dong Wang and Yi Feng Shen each had a pair of goals for China, with Zhang Zheng adding a single marker. 

Loyd Remi Solberg scored the lone Norwegian goal with 48 seconds left in the game. 

Norway is still searching for their first win at the tournament as they drop to 0-2. 

Norway and China are both back in action on Wednesday. China takes on Germany at 11 a.m., while Norway faces Italy at 3 p.m.

Canada came out of the gates strong scoring 13 straight goals, ultimately winning over Team Korea 15-1. Dominic Cozzolino got a hat trick and added another goal for a total of four goals with four for eight points. James Dunn score three goals and got two assists for five points and Tyler McGregor scored two goals and got three assists for five points.

Seung Hwan Jung scored the lone goal for Team Korea.
