We mournfully announce the passing of Eleanor Munroe nee. Mandamin, 60, of Kenora (originally Iskatewizaagegan #39), on March 28, 2021.

Eleanor was also known as “Ellie” to many in the Kenora area.  She grew up in Kenora, Ontario, and relocated to Sachigo Lake First Nation when she married into the Munroe family.  She had returned to Kenora where she had spent her most recent years.

She was a lively and vibrant person with more friends than you could count.  She had a contagious laugher that could be heard from miles away, you were guaranteed an aching belly from laughter when in her presence.  When she laughed, you laughed.

She often spent her days hanging out with the people on the streets whom she affectionately called her “village people”.  As an artist, she shared her passion with her friends near and far, as well as at the Kenora Fellowship Centre.

She enjoyed doing bead work and shared her gifts with everyone.  Her fashion sense was one of a kind; she was known for her many hats and various outfits.

Eleanor was predeceased by; her parents, Willie & Mae Mandamin; sons, Jeffrey & Christopher; her granddaughter Jaylin Paypompee; and her sister Geraldine McKay nee. Mandamin. She is survived by her; children, Aaron (Crystal), Candace, Crystal; her ex-husband Jimmy Munroe; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Caroline and Beverley; her brothers, Roderick (Louise), Larry, Les, as well as her many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
