The fire ban in Strathcona County has been lifted and replaced with a fire restriction.
Categories

Strathcona County has lifted its fire ban and has moved to a fire restriction, effective on Wednesday (May 31) at noon.

Outdoor fire pits and all barbecues are now permitted. However, fire pits must be in a non-combustible structure and have a screen, while also being at least three metres from structures, fences, decks, or trees.

Fires that require a permit are still not allowed, as they pose a risk of wildfire spread. This includes:

  • Brushfires
  • Bonfires
  • Burn barrels
  • Fireworks

The fire ban was lifted due to the recent rain and cooler temperatures.

Fort Saskatchewan, Sturgeon County, Bon Accord, Morinville, Legal and Redwater have also moved to a fire restriction.
