Last week, the Shaunavon community eagerly welcomed the grand reopening of their swimming pool, now officially known as the SWT Pool, after a new partnership was formed between the town and Southwest Terminal (SWT).

Dana Dale, the Director of Wellness and Leisure for the town of Shaunavon, shared insights into the collaboration that led to this exciting new chapter.

"We had reached out directly to Southwest Terminal to see if they would have any interest at all in naming rights to the pool," Dale explained. "They wrote back saying that they were interested, and after a series of discussions, we came to an official agreement."

Now open to the public, the SWT Pool offers a wide variety of activities and swimming sessions. On weekdays, the pool hosts an early bird swim from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., followed by lane swimming or Aquasize from noon to 1:00 p.m.

From 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., various activities such as family swim, Aquasize, and public swimming take place. On Saturday’s the pool is open from noon until 8:00 p.m.

Prior to its reopening, the SWT Pool underwent some maintenance and refurbishment to ensure a positive experience for swimmers.

"We conducted minor repairs, such as filling in cracks where necessary, and completed touch-up painting work,” Dale explained. “Deep cleaning was also a priority. Additionally, we performed maintenance on essential equipment like the boiler and pump to ensure smooth operation."
