The annual Large Item Collection is coming to Fort Saskatchewan next week.
Categories

Fort Saskatchewan residents will be able to get rid of any large or heavy items that are collecting dust next week.

June 12 to 16 is Large Item Collection Week, where residents are encouraged to set out up to two large or heavy items for curbside collection.

These items can include refrigerators, mattresses, couches, and more. However, before setting out the items, the city asks that residents:

  • Remove or tie down doors and lids on fridges and freezers and make sure the coolant system is not damaged or leaking.
  • Drain all small engine equipment of oil and remove the fuel tank.
  • Bundle and tie wood waste, carpet, and cardboard in 4' long pieces.

Residents who live in an apartment or condo are asked to place their items near the building's front-load waste bin.

There are certain items that are not accepted. These include:

  • Dirt and rocks.
  • Propane tanks.
  • Construction materials such as fences, decks, shingles, drywall, and cupboards.

Items not accepted may be taken to the Transfer Station, though fees may apply.
