Excitement is building in Swift Current as the construction of the new inclusive park progresses.
The playground, which is part of a multi-phase project, aims to provide a safe and inclusive space for members of the community to enjoy.
The General Manager of Community Services, Nicole Spenst, revealed that the installation of the playground structure itself is nearing completion.
“It's so exciting to see that the playground is going up at this point in time and we're hoping that the installation of the playground is complete by next week,” she stated.
This marks the completion of phase one, with phase two set to commence this spring.
Phase two will include additions such as a rubberized play surface surrounding the playground, ensuring the safety of users.
“We still have the pour and play surface to go in, which is the rubberized surface that goes around the playground to keep members and the public safe while using the playground and then we will be moving into some of the phase two construction which includes the parking lot and the pathway extensions as well as irrigation,” Spenst added. “Once we have those in place, based on the weather, we will have a soft launch opening where the playground will be accessible.”
While the playground will soon be accessible, not all features will be available initially.
“It's really exciting, especially when you drive by right now and start to see the playground going up,” she added. “The team is working hard on that project and we're really excited to see it's going to be opening for our community very soon.”
