The City of Humboldt has paved the way for Westwood Development Corporation to proceed with a 12-residential lot project on the north side of the Humboldt Co-op Food Store. The decision to sign a 2023 servicing agreement allows Westwood to get infrastructure set up for new homes that will benefit a growing population.
At the special meeting of City Council on Monday, June 12, City Manager Joe Day explained to Council that the City had been working with the development company over the past year to nail down the details of the servicing agreement. He noted that the agreement pertains to only the 12-lot subdivision. The remaining 77.5 acres earmarked for future builds would be subject to additional planning and presentation of detailed development maps.
The recommendation also noted that the developer would need to comply with the City’s standards for infrastructure installation, and that failure to do so could result in a stop-work order. The agreement also finalizes the arrangement for the transfer of funds to the City as part of the off-site servicing fees. That sum will amount to approximately $230,000.
The recommendation noted that both the City and Westwood Development Corporation were satisfied with the agreement. The recommendation resulted in Council’s vote to sign the agreement.
