Strathcona County has removed their fire ban.
Categories

Strathcona County has moved from a fire ban to a fire advisory as of Thursday (June 15).

When the fire ban was in effect, all types of open fires and burning were prohibited. Any kind of fire permits were also suspended. However, residents were still permitted to use propane barbecues.

Now that the fire ban has been moved to a fire advisory, all outdoor fires and burning are now permitted, even on public land.

However, fireworks and exploding targets are still prohibited without the written permission of a forest officer.

Fire permits may also be restricted or suspended. All permit holders are asked to call the Burning Status Line (780-464-8464) to make sure burning is permitted.

The fire advisory was put in place due to the recent influx of rain and moisture in the area.

As of 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, there are no fire bans in the area. However, these areas still have fire restrictions in place:

  • Fort Saskatchewan
  • Morinville
  • Redwater
  • Bon Accord

The town of Bruderheim has removed their fire ban completely.
