Lamont County has a new regional fire chief.
Bo Moore, a veteran firefighter with more than 20 years of experience, will step into the role.
"I started out in Leduc County in 2000, spent five years as a volunteer paid-on-call firefighter," said Moore. "I then took a career firefighter position in the city of Calgary in 2005."
"I spent 10 years working in the city of Calgary as a firefighter and then promoted to training officer."
Moore, who hails from Leduc, decided to come back to the city in 2015 where he took on a deputy chief role with the city of Leduc.
"Spent eight years there and then took this opportunity here with Lamont County regional emergency services."
With plenty of experience in both rural and urban areas, Moore is confident he can bring what is needed to the region's emergency response team.
"I bring the ability to help out with operations, assist in the training portfolio and just give good guidance and oversight to our firefighters from the five districts that are doing a good job," said Moore.
"My job as a fire chief is to ensure that we are looking after [our firefighters'] health, safety, and well-being in this career that they're doing."
The move to Lamont is still ongoing for Moore and his family, but they are excited for this next chapter in their lives.
"We're in the midst of purchasing a house in the district," said Moore. "We're hoping to have that all settled and everybody moved in and ready to start school in the Fall."
All in all, it's a move that Moore himself is excited to step into and he's excited to get to know the region even more.
"I'm really happy and excited about the opportunity," said Moore. "I've heard nothing but good things about the fire service."
"It's my job to support that and continue to build on the great things that have already been done."
