Kids will be burning rubber on the streets of Central Avenue coming up this Sunday as part of the 40th annual soapbox races.
Beginning at 10:00am young racers will put the pedal to the metal with 13 entries from Swift Current and 8 from out of town.
Secretary of the Swift Current Soapbox Racing Association Board, Jennifer Dussault says they are always looking for new members.
"We are always welcoming new registrations as we also race in Moose Jaw come August. They can email us at swiftcurrent.soapbox@gmail.com or find us at Swift Current Soapbox Racing Association on Facebook."
Dussault provides details on the attraction to the event.
"The kids love racing. Thye love going fast and competing against each other. They start at age 7 and they can go up to 15 depending on the size of the car. And a lot of the kids will talk about getting speeding tickets and seeing how fast they can go. They also win some great prizes at the end."
In addition, Dussault says the club has a variety of cars available and if anyone is interested in building, they own car they can help get the information for that to.
Dussault adds a great viewing spot would be the Pharmasave parking lot where onlookers will be able to see the racers cross the finish line.
The viewing audience is reminded to remain on the sidewalk and not cross the street.
Should the weather not cooperate the event will be rescheduled.
