Swift Current residents can dive back into summer fun as the Fairview Pool gears up for its highly anticipated opening tomorrow.

The Aquatic Supervisor for the City of Swift Current, Meghan Chisholm, shared some insights into the preparations and upcoming events for the season.

“During the winter, we winterized the pool,” Chisholm stated. “What we do is we fill the water over the winter and let it freeze. We pour antifreeze down all of the lines to prevent any of the pipes from cracking and just to keep the integrity of the pool basin over our harsh winter months.”

Regular hours of operation for the outdoor pool this summer are Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Chisholm added that exciting events have already been planned for the season.

“Every year we have our annual Pooch Plunge and that will be on Labor Day in September,” she elaborated. “In July, through the week of July 17 to 23, we'll have our national Drowning Prevention week where we are going to be teaching the community water safety when you're in and around the water. We'll be having games, activities and prizes to be given out that week."

The Fairview pool will kick off the 2023 season at one in the afternoon tomorrow with family swim time.
