The City of Dauphin continues to mourn the loss of 15 of its community members following one of the deadliest crashes in the history of Canada.

Fifteen people died, and ten others were seriously injured after a bus carrying 25 people from Dauphin collided with a semi-trailer truck near Carberry, Manitoba, on June 15, 2023.

Many people found comfort at church this Sunday, singing songs, lighting candles and remembering the lives lost.

Dauphin First United Church held a moment of silence, offered prayers and lit candles in memory of those whose lives were lost and those still in hospital.

"Our hearts go out to the people of Dauphin who have been touched by the tragedy this past Thursday," said the church in a post on social media.

Meanwhile, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada has also responded to Dauphin, sending their Rapid Response Team chaplains.

"Please join us in praying for the Lord’s presence and comfort for those affected by the horrific crash that took place in Carberry," said the Rapid Response Team on Facebook.

The chaplains are offering emotional and spiritual support to all of those affected.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” (Psalm 34:18), the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada quoted in a post online.

Meanwhile, Mountain View Christian Assembly in Dauphin has asked its congregation if anyone is willing to take a short training course on crisis intervention offered by the Billy Graham team. Several people quickly responded, hoping to help the community during this difficult time.

Premier Heather Stefanson, alongside senior RCMP and Shared Health officials, will hold a news conference today to update Manitobans on this tragedy.

The news conference is set to take place at noon at the RCMP D Division headquarters on Portage Avenue.
