Sturgeon County is no longer under a fire restriction.

The county announced that they will be lifting the fire restrictions in the county as well as the towns of Bon Accord, Legal, and Redwater effective today at 11 a.m.

"Sturgeon County thanks the public for its cooperation during the fire restriction and urges the public to continue using caution when conducting burning," said the county in a release.

This means that residents can now apply for fire and firework permits and do not need a permit for a fire in an approved firepit if it is being used for recreation, cooking, or warming.

Keep in mind that residents are still required to supervise those fires at all times.

Off-highway vehicles (OHVs) and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are also allowed to be operated, though the county is preaching caution.

Permits for fireworks, burn barrels, and incinerators can be found on the county's website here

Fort Saskatchewan remains under a fire restriction, while Strathcona County and Lamont County are under a fire advisory.
