Fort Saskatchewan High School has named Hannah Skinner as its valedictorian for the class of 2023.

"I was honoured to have this opportunity to share things with my classmates," said Skinner regarding when she was told she would be valedictorian by principal Curtis Starko.

Highlights of her grad weekend included the grad ceremony, and especially the dance they had after.

"Seeing people and hanging out was really fun."

As for what she'll remember most about high school, she said she enjoyed spending time with friends and the conversations they had in class.

"We would kind of get off topic, but it would still be a legitimate discussion about real-life things. I learned a lot not even related to the curriculum."

Skinner said she couldn't consider a favourite class or teacher because she loved them all.

"Biology was probably my favourite, but social and English were pretty good too, but I wouldn't say I was good at them," laughed Skinner.

Skinner suggested that people attend Fort High for the teachers and the care they have for their students.

After school, Skinner will be spending the summer working before studying nursing at the University of Alberta.

"I'm not sure where I'll go after that. We'll see how that goes."

The last day for classes at Fort High is on June 28.
