The Do More Agriculture Foundation has launched the app AgTalk powered by Togetherall to raise awareness about the importance of people in agriculture taking care of their mental health.
The peer support platform will be accessible across the entire Canadian agriculture industry. The platform provides a safe and anonymous space where anyone 16+ can connect, share, and receive support from a community of peers who relate to their unique experiences. With 24/7 bilingual clinical moderation, AgTalk, ensures a secure environment for open discussions on mental health.
Executive Director of the Do More Agriculture Foundation Megz Reynolds says that talking it out can help more than we think it can.
"None of us have to be alone with our thoughts. There is power in connecting with each other, in finding the right support, and it all starts with a conversation. Just by talking about our thoughts, concerns, and feelings, can ease our stress levels and start us on the road to finding solutions. At first, it can feel awkward or uncomfortable, but the more we normalize having the conversation, being vulnerable with each other, the easier it starts to become.”
Reynolds also explained that mental health journeys are deeply personal, and everyone progresses at their own pace.
"AgTalk, powered by Togetherall, is designed to support individuals in their next steps towards improved mental well-being, allowing them to share and connect when they are ready. The clinically moderated environment provides an added layer of support and well-being for our community."
The Do More Agriculture Foundation also launched their 2023 campaign called #TalkItOut and its purpose is to encourage conversations about mental health in the agriculture industry and to help promote resources for those that are suffering and need some help. The Foundation is working to build a community of support and to provide a safe space for those that need help to get help.
The #TalkItOut campaign will run throughout the year. You can join the conversation and share your story by using the hashtag #TalkItOut online or tagging @DoMoreAg.
