It’s day two of Frontier Days in Swift Current and the fun is just getting started.
4-H Regional Judging Competition
Starting early this morning, the South and West gates will open at 8:00 a.m. before the 4-H Regional Judging Competition at 9:00 a.m., in The Bernie Kemick Show Ring.
Commercial Exhibits Tradeshow
Visitors at Kinetic Park will get to enjoy the Commercial Exhibits Tradeshow in the Stockade beginning at 12:00 p.m., which features a variety of local merchants, artists, crafters, and more.
The tradeshow will remain open until 9:00 p.m.
Mennonite Heritage Village and Doc’s Town Heritage Village
The Mennonite Heritage Village will open to the public at 12:00 p.m., and will remain open until 7:00 p.m., while Doc’s Town Heritage Village will open at 1:00 p.m., and remain open until 8:00 p.m.
Cattle Shows
Back at The Bernie Kemick Show Ring, cattle shows will begin at 12:00 p.m., with the Junior Breed Shows kicking things off.
The Junior Breed Shows will be followed by the Purebred Cattle Show, the Crossbred Female Show, All Breeds Championship, and Open Showmanship.
Then, at 5:30 p.m., Jackpot Heifer and Steer Shows will take over the ring.
Midway
Things will really start picking up at 1:00 p.m., when the West Coast Amusements Midway opens for the day. The midway will be the last attraction to turn off the lights tonight, at 12:00 a.m.
Heavy Horse Pulls
In the south end of the park, the Heavy Horse Pull will be taking place at 1:00 p.m., in the Magnus Newland Arena.
West Wing Gallery
Art lovers will have a place to explore at 1:00 p.m. when the West Wing Gallery opens its doors for the day.
Visitors will be able to look through a multitude of art by artists from Swift Current and surrounding areas.
Flying Aces Pig Races
The popular pig races will be back today, with the first race starting at 3:30 p.m. Hooves will hit the ground a couple of times today in the Family Fun Zone, as the pigs will be back to race at 5:30 p.m., and again at 6:30 p.m.
Canadian Raptor Conservancy Show
At 4:00 p.m., the Canadian Raptor Conservancy Show will have its first show of the day in the Palliser Pavillion.
Those in attendance can get up close to the birds and learn more about species of birds of prey in Canada. A second show will take place at 6:00 p.m., followed by the last show of the day at 7:00 p.m.
Canadian Cowboys Association Rodeo
A major stepping-stone to the CCA Finals, the Canadian Cowboys Association Rodeo will start in the Magnus Newland Arena at all 5:00 p.m.
Frontier City Racing Invitational
Featuring the Alberta Extreme Sprints Tour, the Swift current Stock Car Association will host the Frontier City Racing Invitational at 7:00 p.m.
The Grandstands will feature Sprints, Modifieds, Streets, Hobbies, and more.
Cabaret
Following the races, a Cabaret will take place in the tent by the Grandstands. Featuring the band, ‘Rock Candy,’ the event will begin at 10:00 p.m. No minors are allowed at the Cabaret.
