This year’s winner of the Dayna Brons Honorary Award from Hockey Gives Blood has been announced. This year’s recipient is Logan Stankoven, captain of the WHL Kamloops Blazers.
The Dayna Brons Award was established by Hockey Gives Blood to honour the young Lake Lenore woman who was lost in the Humboldt Broncos tragedy in 2018. Dayna’s commitment to blood donation and supporting others lives on through the legacy award.
A statement from Hockey Gives Blood outlines Logan’s dedication to the cause. This past season, Logan committed many hours to his role as a Hockey Gives Blood Player Ambassador using his platform to make a positive contribution to Canadians.
In a year which Canadian Blood Services was in an immediate need for blood, Logan helped in a big way with his essential efforts. These efforts included hosting a community blood drive, encouraging teammates to donate blood and surprising a minor hockey team who hosted a blood drive of their own. Additionally, Logan filmed videos in support of the ‘Be A Hero' stem cell campaign and raised over $41,000 in support of Canadian Blood Services during his Logan Stankoven Charity Night.
Congratulations Logan on being named the winner of the 2023 Dayna Brons Honorary Award.
