The Center's goal to expand may happen sooner rather than later thanks to a generous donation.
The Kinettes Club of Swift Current has stepped up to the plate for the youth outreach operation, donating $2,500 to The Center's new administrative building.
Tracey Prang, vice president of the club, made the donation on behalf of the Kinettes Club of Swift Current.
"We are super excited to be able to do a nice donation to the new counselling centre that The Center is building," said Prang. "Our club got together and we did a bunch of projects over the year. We decided that we would love to donate $2,500 to The Center."
Nathan Wiebe, the executive director of the organization, accepted the cheque on behalf of The Center.
"This is huge for us," stated Wiebe. "To continually see our community work together for a better future for our kids and families is pretty special. We consider ourselves pretty fortunate to be able to work as a team and to work with the community to do that."
This money was raised at Market Square a few weeks ago, back when the Kinettes hosted a dunk tank to raise the funds.
The Center helps with youth in the community, serving as a safe space for them to go, as well as offering counselling and other mental health services.
"This building is going to be our designated counselling and administration office," stated Wiebe. "This money is going to go towards the renovations within that building so that we can create a safe and welcoming space for clients."
The goal is for the new office, which is located directly next door to the existing facilities, to open in the fall. Wiebe is hoping for the renovations to wrap up in early October, to avoid the tangle of Halloween and all that they do during that time.
