Strathcona County RCMP says a man died after a motorcycle collision on Saturday (July 8) morning.

Police say that they received a report around midnight of a man seen lying in the ditch on Highway 16 near Range Road 213.

Upon arriving, officers reported finding a deceased man and a dead moose at the scene.

An investigation discovered that a motorcycle collided with the moose. Speed is not considered to be a factor in the collision and road conditions were found to be clear and dry. No other people or vehicles were involved.

The deceased has been transported to the Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy and the next of kin have been notified.

The identity of the deceased will not be released.
