Expect more rain and some more storms this week.

It's going to be an interesting week, weather-wise in the area.

As residents in the Fort Saskatchewan area enjoy roaring thunder complete with some rain, there is some expectation that this weather could be norm for at least a few days.

"It's looking like a situation where the circulation pattern doesn't change a heck of a lot over the whole week," said Stephen Berg, a meteorologist with Environment Canada. "The conditions will be pretty unsettled and ripe for continued showers and thunderstorm over the week."

"A very unstable situation."

This follows what was a blisteringly hot weekend in the region, where temperatures felt as high as 33 C at times and triggered heat warnings.

That extreme heat will subside for most of the week, but there is a chance we see it come back by the weekend.

"For tomorrow, in the Edmonton area, the high will be around 22 C, so it has eased off considerably," said Berg. "Throughout the rest of the week, a little bit more comfortable, it doesn't look like heat criteria will be reached until maybe on the weekend."

"It's looking certainly a little bit more comfortable albeit a little bit more rainy for the Edmonton region."

Those rain and storms look like they could continue in an off-and-on pattern until Thursday. After that, the forecast is expecting some cloudy periods going into the weekend.

As always with storms, Berg is preaching caution when it comes to staying outside.

"If it roars, go indoors," said Berg. "Lightning is always an issue for safety, people need to take it seriously and head indoors and find shelter away from it."

"If you're out and about and can't go indoors, seeking shelter in your vehicle when there is lightning around is a lot safer than being outside under a tree."
