17,182 - that is the number of pancakes served during this past Sunday's Stampede Breakfast during Tim Hortons Family Day. That number of pancakes flipped and served means that the Stampede has broken the Guinness World Record for most pancakes served in eight hours.

The Calgary Stampede is the new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™️ title holder for most pancakes served in eight hours, with a total of 17,182!

The old record was 14,280 pancakes.
"Although 15 pancakes were disqualified, we beat the old record by over 2,900 in around four hours!" The Calgary Stampede tweeted.
As with any world record, there were some rules, one being that the pancake had to be at least 5 inches in diameter to meet the official requirements.
The world-breaking record also came at a very special moment in time, as this year the Calgary Stampede is celebrating 100 years of free pancake breakfasts. The origins of the Stampede pancake breakfast were in fact recently illustrated in a book by an Airdrie author, bringing to life the story behind the beloved tradition.
Flip Flop Jack, written by Brenda Joyce Leahy brings to life the story behind the 100-year-old tradition of the Stampede Breakfast started, which was started in 1923 by Wildhorse Jack, the author's grandfather.
The picture book chronicles the antics of ‘Wildhorse’ Jack Morton, a larger-than-life Alberta cowboy (1879-1944) who loses every event at the Stampede rodeo but celebrates by hosting a huge pancake breakfast the next morning — confusing his little daughter Frankie.
