Strathcona County RCMP is looking for a suspect in relation to an arson that took place late last month.

On the morning of June 28, the RCMP were told of a fire at a rural residence by the Strathcona Fire Department.

There was one person in the home at the time of the blaze who managed to escape unharmed.

Investigators from the fire department worked with police to determine that the fire was started on purpose.

As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant has been issued for 45-year-old Robert Martin, who lives in Red Deer and is facing charges of:

  • Arson
  • Disobeying a court order

Police believe that Martin fled the scene with another suspect in a newer model white Ford F150. Officers are asking for the public's help in locating Martin and identifying the other suspect.

Martin is believed to be in the Red Deer area or in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Martin is described as:

  • 6'0''
  • 250lbs
  • Heavy set build
  • Brown eyes and brown hair

The unidentified male suspect is described as:

  • Over 6' tall
  • Caucasian
  • Slender build
