This weekend, Dufresne Furniture and Appliance Store will join forces with the Swift Current SPCA to host an exciting adoption fair.

The event, which aims to find loving homes for animals in need, will take place this Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Dufresne Furniture and Appliance Store parking lot.

The adoption fair promises to be an action-packed event with various attractions and activities for attendees explained Joanne Schatkoski, the development manager for the Swift Current SPCA.

“There will be bouncy castles, food, and market vendors which include Fern Valley Greenhouse, Pokey Lizard Creations, Lily Bean Cookies & Cupcakes, the SPCA Bookstore, Penny’s Pet Quilts, Scentsy by Mel, Beads and Jewelry by Sylvia Thornburg, Prairie Flint, and Sun Catchers by Carol,” she elaborated.

In addition, the winner of the raffle for the Maytag washer and dryer Dufresne Furniture generously donated will take place.

The tickets, which were sold on Facebook, raised an impressive $3,000 for the shelter within 20 minutes.

The primary goal of the adoption fair is to find homes for the animals in the shelter. With an extensive waitlist, the Swift Current SPCA hopes to encourage the adoption of long-term animals who have been patiently waiting for their forever families.

Schatkoski emphasized that these pets deserve a life beyond the shelter and should not be confined to cages.

“We really would like to get some of our long-term pets adopted because they need a life too, not just behind in a cage in the shelter,” she stated.

During the fair, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the animals in person. There will be dogs, long-term dogs in particular, as well as numerous kittens and cats in need of loving homes.

In addition to the furry companions, attendees can look forward to various raffle items courtesy of Dufresne Furniture and exciting prizes, including gift cards for Sputtergotch Toy Company and pizza.

The Swift Current SPCA also welcomes donations from those who are unable to adopt at the moment. Whether it's food or other pet-related items, every contribution will make a difference in supporting the shelter and its animals.
