Boomtown Days 

Shaunavons largest annual event has officially kicked off with events and activities for all. 

Today’s events will begin this morning at 8:00 a.m., with a pancake breakfast at the Shaunavon Elks Hall. 

At 9:00 a.m., the Market at the Museum and Tradeshow will open, located at the Grand Coteau. The tradeshow will remain open until 2:00 p.m. 

The Boomtown Days Parade will take off from 2nd Avenue West and proceed down Centre Street at 10:30 a.m. Following the parade, Centre Street will open for the Street Fair and a variety of games. 

An inflatable play park for children can be located at Memorial Park from 12 p.m., until 4:00 p.m. Also located in Memorial Park, the Boomtown Days BBQ Showdown will take place from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. 

Found at the entrance on the North side of the Shaunavon Hospital, the Boomtown Cup Lawnmower Races will begin at 5:00 p.m. 

Following the races, the Boomtown Cup Cabaret will conclude the day. 

On Sunday, at the Randy Surjik Memorial Park Amphitheatre, an interdenominational service will begin at 11:00 a.m. 

From 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday in the Park will wrap up Boomtown Days. The event will feature family fun and cultural performers in Memorial Park. 

 

Free Concert/Fundraiser for Telemiracle  

Featuring Glenna Switzer and Blackwater a free concert will be held in the backyard of Willow Creek Manor on Saturday afternoon. 

Starting at 2:00 p.m., attendees can enjoy live music, lemonade, and donuts free of charge. 

Guests should bring their own lawn chair to the concert fundraiser. 

If smokey weather conditions persist, the event will be moved inside to the Willow Creek dining hall. 

 

Cruise for a Cure 

The third annual Cruise for a Cure motorcycle ride will kick off from the Innovation Plex parking lot at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. 

Registration for the cruise is 30 dollars, with all proceeds going towards the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), Saskatchewan Region. 

Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. 

 

Saskatchewan Landing Walleye Tournament 

The two-day fishing tournament will begin at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday with a pancake and sausage breakfast at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park. 

Teams will compete for their shot at 40,000 dollars in cash and prizes. 

Final weigh-ins and awards will take place on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

 

Super Mario Cup 

Roller Derby and Super Mario are joining forces this weekend at the Innovation Plex Curling Rink. 

Doors open at 12:00 p.m. for mini-games, roller derby bouts, and tons of fun. The first mini-game will start at 1:00 p.m. and the first bout will start at 1:30 p.m. 

Admission is ten dollars for adults and 18 and under is free. 

 

Cadillac Street Dance 

Live music, lawn games, barbeque, and more can be found at the Cadillac Street Dance on Saturday evening. 

Byron Falk and The Halftime Cowboys will perform at the event which will also feature free axe throwing and a dunk tank. 

There is a 20-dollar cover fee for the event. 

No minors are permitted  

 

Antique Tractor, Classic Car Display, and Hammer-In 

Doc’s Town Heritage Village will be bustling on Sunday for Antique Tractor Pulls, a classic car display, and a hammer-in. 

The tractors and vehicles will parade through the grounds to conclude the event at 4:00 p.m. for the Parade of Power. 

All heritage buildings will be open for viewing and the Tea Room will be serving fresh pie. 

 

Watermelon Festival 

On Sunday, residents and visitors of Swift Current can take part in the Watermelon Festival located at the Mennonite Heritage in Kinetic Park. 

Attendees can enjoy fresh watermelon and roll kuchen from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
