A St. Albert man has been charged after an alleged break-and-enter in rural Sturgeon County.

Redwater RCMP have arrested a man for an alleged break-and-enter in rural Sturgeon County. 

On June 6, police report that they responded to a complaint at about 2 a.m. from a resident saying that two men had driven onto their property, exited their vehicle and had begun walking toward the resident's vehicle. 

Officer say that the resident turned on his yard light which caused the men to flee in their vehicle. During this attempted escape, the vehicle slid into the ditch and became stuck. 

Police arrived to find the vehicle and were able to arrest one of the men while the other escaped on foot. 

As a result, 37-year-old Alexander Valentine, a resident of St. Albert, was charged with the following: 

  • Break and enter with intent
  • Possession of break-in tools
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of a controlled drug or substance
  • Failure to comply with release order conditions (x2) 

Valentine will appear in court on Thursday.
