Local artist Ashley Rosenow has just completed a new mural in downtown Fort Saskatchewan.
Located at 9803 102 Street, right next to Paraclete Psychology, this mural features a variety of different plants, flowers, and symbols.
Rosenow stated that each of them was deliberately chosen to represent the newcomers to the community. For example, The lavender represents Portugal, while the plum blossom represents China.
There are also symbols within the letters on the mural as well, representing Ukraine, the Philippines, India, and Columbia respectively.
"We wanted to create something that was inclusive to all the newcomers that are coming to Fort Saskatchewan and calling this place their home," said Rosenow.
The City of Fort Saskatchewan commissioned the art as part of their plan to beautify downtown. This is the second mural that Rosenow has done for the project, the first being unveiled in October.
"I love that Fort Saskatchewan has shown a huge appreciation for these public murals," added Rosenow. "I'm so happy that the mural program took off because I feel it brings a huge vibrance to the community."
Rosenow paints for Illustrious Interiors and is also known for painting the shed next to Millers Ice Cream.
