There was a huge turnout at the Calgary Stampede this year. So many people came out to enjoy the rodeo that it almost broke a record in attendance.

According to officials at the stampede, 1,384,632 people attended the event this year, with over 125,000 people attending the event every single day.

This total turnout is larger than the populations of Fort Saskatchewan, Lamont County, Sturgeon County, Strathcona County, St. Albert, and Edmonton combined.

Despite the attendance, thisĀ fell just short of the rodeo's all-time attendance record, which was set in 2012 with over 1,400,000 visitors.

Although the stampede didn't break the record of all-time attendance, they did manage to break a few records along the way.

Opening day attendance was higher than any year before, and they also broke a Guinness World Record for the most pancakes served in eight hours.
