A huge shoutout to the Humboldt Dodgers 11U squad for bringing home the Tier 2B provincial title on the July 15-16th weekend.
The Humboldt dodgers started off the provincial tournament by invoking the mercy rule against the Saskatoon, Red Sea, Cardinals, winning 13-3 in 4 innings. The first game on Saturday was a tight 15-11 loss to the All-star A’s.
The last round robin game on Saturday was against the Regina Yankees with the Dodgers invoking the mercy rule again to win 12-2.
After round robin play, there was a 3-way tie in their pool. The Red Sea cardinals snuck by to take first place, forcing the Dodgers to play in the 9am Sunday tie breaking game against the Saskatoon All-star A’s for 2nd place.
The Dodgers would need to win three in a row to take home Gold. They dispatched the A’s in the tie breaker game winning 12-0.
Next up were the semifinals against the Saskatoon Blue Jay Dirt Bags. The Dodgers pulled out the win against the Dirt Bags in extra innings with a score of 6-5.
In the final, the Dodgers went up against the Saskatoon Cardinals Smashers. With their 4th mercy of the tournament, the Dodgers won 15-4 to bring home the gold and wrap up another successful season.
