The Southwest is bracing for another heatwave as scorching temperatures are set to hit the area starting today.

With a formidable ridge of high pressure making its way from the west, the temperature is expected to surge into the low 30s and remain there for the foreseeable future, advised Steven Berg, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.

“The Southwest, and Swift Current itself is possibly getting to 31/32 for Monday and Tuesday,” he stated. “We're not absolutely certain about the heat warning criteria being met, but it'll be a pretty toasty day, at least for Monday and Tuesday. And then Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, will be pretty warm as well.”

As the heatwave engulfs the area, Berg urges residents to prioritize their well-being, especially those who are more vulnerable to heat-related complications.

“For people who are susceptible to complications, if they have underlying health conditions, if they're younger kids or older adults, or if they're pregnant, be sure to keep an eye on your health and make sure that you're taking adequate precautions,” he elaborated. “Stay cool and drink a lot of water, staying hydrated is the main thing.”
