Yesterday morning at approximately 11:30 a.m., the RM of Swift Current Fire Department (RMSCFD) was dispatched to a structure fire southeast of Swift Current.

“Upon arrival, there were a few buildings fully engulfed in flames,” RMSCFD Fire Chief Louis Cherpin stated.

While the farmyard, located just outside of Rosenhof, was home to numerous animals, none were injured in the blaze.

“There were no animals involved in the incident,” Cherpin stated. “They were able to remove the horses and whatnot to save them before we got there.”

The Fire Chief also noted the tremendous support from the community and other farmers in the area, who brought with them water trucks and manpower.

The RMSCFD continued to battle the blaze until 7:00 p.m. last night.

Hutch Ambulance was also on the scene to provide much-needed medical support to those fighting the fire.

“That's a long day when it's 33 degrees,” Cherpin noted. “Swift Current Hutch Ambulance came out and gave us an opportunity to rest and relax in some air-conditioned buildings and get monitored during that heat.”

The fire is currently still under investigation.
