The Village of Climax is celebrating the completion of a new gazebo in their playground, made possible by a $2,500 grant from the Innovation Credit Union's Legacy Community & Development Grant Fund.

Marla Shirley, the CAO for the Village of Climax, expressed gratitude for the grant that made their vision a reality.

“It was a family in town who thought that there was a need for it, so, they approached the village and asked, if they were to fundraise for it, if the village would give permission for it to be built,” she explained.

The playground in the village lacked shade, with aging trees having fallen or been removed.

Shirley added that while members of the community worked hard to fundraise money, they also utilized local grants.

“The group that was organizing and fundraising for the gazebo saw that there were all these community grants available,” she elaborated. “We took a chance and we applied for it, and we did get some funding for it.”

The gazebo now offers a perfect spot for parents to relax while their children play and is located near the swimming pool and the village museum.

Completed just in time for Climax's Centennial celebrations on July 1, the gazebo has already been well-received by the community.

“There are usually people there every day when I drive by,” she stated.

Looking ahead, the village plans to enhance the gazebo with additional amenities, including more benches and solar lights.
