Environment Canada has issued a Special Air Quality Statement for Swift Current, Herbert, Cabri, Kyle, and Lucky Lake.

The alert was issued due to smoke causing reduced visibility and poor air quality today.

Air quality and reduced visibility due to wildfire smoke can vary from hour to hour and can fluctuate over short distances.

Wildfire smoke, even at low concentrations, can be harmful to everyone's health and everyone can take precautions to reduce their exposure.

Some individuals may be at a higher risk of experiencing health effects caused by wildfire smoke, such as individuals with lung disease or heart disease, older adults, children, pregnant people, and people who work outdoors.

If you feel unwell or if breathing becomes uncomfortable, stop or reduce your activity level. If you develop severe symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.

Call HealthLine 811 for advice on health risks, symptoms and precautions associated with air quality.
