The Lumsden-Morse by-election is quickly approaching, giving eligible voters the opportunity to cast their vote for one of five candidates.

Lumsden-Morse, a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, covers the rural area along the Trans Canada Highway between Swift Current and Regina, excluding Moose Jaw. To the northeast, it expands to the shores of Last Mountain Lake and includes the towns of Lumsden and Regina Beach.

Premier Scott Moe announced on July 13 that the election would take place on August 10 after two-term MLA, Lyle Stewart, stepped down due to health concerns.

Five candidates will have their names on the ballot in the upcoming election. Swift Current Online reached out to each candidate prior to the by-election. To learn more about a candidate, click on their name, listed below. Two candidates were not able to be reached for an interview.

To be eligible to vote, you must be at least 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, and have lived in Saskatchewan for at least six months.

Individuals should also bring with them a form of identification. Options can be found HERE.

Individuals in Swift Current can go to Christ the Redeemer Parish to vote tomorrow from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Counting will begin after the polls close.
