The family of Dorothy Ann McInnes wish to announce her passing on August 11, 2023 at the Meadows in Swift Current, Saskatchewan at the age of 90 years.  She was born September 10, 1932 in Cardston, Alberta to Lily and Irvin Madsen the eldest of three.  Her childhood was spent in logging camps where her Dad was the foreman.  There she met Jim, who had come to look for work in the sawmill.  In 1950 they were married in Val Marie and so began her life on the prairies as a farmer’s wife.  They moved off of the farm in 1981 and went to the Morse District.  From there they moved to Waldeck, Saskatchewan where they were quite involved in the Golden Age Club.  Dorothy sang in a singing group and played in two bands, one of which is still entertaining at the senior homes, namely “Country Strings.”  She was very proud when they came to perform at the Meadows and loved hearing them play!  From there they decided to officially retire and moved out to Pincher Creek to be near Dorothy’s family and enjoy the beautiful country.  Again they became very involved in their community helping to build a new church.  Dorothy’s legendary buns fed many a mouth!  When Jim passed Dorothy stayed on in Pincher Creek until declining health necessitated a move back to Swift Current.  Dorothy was definitely a people person and loved nothing better than to have a coffee, play a game of cards or share a meal with family and friends.  She gave generously of her time and what she had, sponsoring children through World Vision for 51 years!  Dorothy is survived by her children: Bruce (Elva) of Swift Current, Dale (Shirley) of Swift Current, Wes (Nona) of Kelowna, British Columbia, Laura (Darwin) Johnson of Swift Current, and Audrey (Trevor) Hershmiller of Lethbridge, Alberta; her Grandchildren: Jodie (Bob) Thompson, Trudy Gusikoski (Ryan), Kimberly Larson (Braden), Todd (Kandis) Adam, Aron (Amy) McInnes, Jessie (Evan) Horn, Tara McInnes, Sharla (Talan) Eftoda, Tyler McInnes, Adrienne Ford (Nico Eichhorst), Sarah Ford (Assen), Cortez, Bruce, Jeremy and Dorothy Johnson; her Great Grandchildren: Donald (Shannon) Thompson, Abigail Thompson, Dylan and Haley Gusikoski, Jace Dyck, Shayne and Dior Larson, William Wallace, Cole and Walker McInnes, Aiden and Addison McInnes,  Dekkar, Kixtyn and Stratton Horn, Addisyn and Arya McInnes, Kaidence, Corbin and Kali Eftoda, Myles and Sophie Eichhorst, and Ryker Johnson; her sister-in-law Edith Domier; her nieces and nephew Janice, Sheila, Cindy, Melody, Tracy, Randy and their families.  Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Jim on February 10, 2005; her son, Danny on May 2, 1956; her mother Lily on November 22, 1994; her father Irvin on January 15, 1983; her brother Duane on August 15, 1983; her sister Loretta on April 1, 2007; and her great grandson Kallub on December 13, 2002.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the Innovation Iplex, 2001 Chaplin St. E, Swift Current, Saskatchewan on September 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.  Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.  For further information please call 1-306-773-8831 or 1-800-267-6606, or visit our website at www.warrensfuneralhome.com and express your sympathy to family members on the tribute wall.
