It’s that time of year once again to put on the party hats and blow up the balloons in celebration of Ranger the Bison's birthday.

The longtime mascot of the Swift Current Museum will be celebrating his 72 birthday in style later today explained Visitor Attendant at the Swift Current Museum, Corla Rokochy.

“We have some special guests coming,” she elaborated. “We have the Grasslands, they're going to come and talk about the bison and we're going to learn a little bit about the bison and how they exist in the Grasslands, and we have Chip from the casino coming in the afternoon. So, all of his friends are coming to celebrate with him.”

Attendees at the party will be able to help themselves to refreshments and cookies while entering draws, being treated to surprise guests, and playing games.

The event will take place tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., and again from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Rokochy added that each year, Ranger’s birthday is a way to celebrate his time in Swift Current.

“He's resided in the museum at the different locations around the city, and he's been a keystone feature of our museum,” she stated. “He's the mascot for the museum on our logo and so, we really want to appreciate and celebrate his place here in the history of Swift Current and the museum.”

The event is free of charge to attend.
