It was a hot day for those who attended the Dunrea Flea Market this past Sunday, with 1752 people paying their $5 entry fee to see table upon table of artifacts, antiques and everything else under Sunday's scorching sun!

"It was nice and hot, with lots of people and it was a great day," shares organizing committee member, Lindsay McDonald. "Everyone was happy!  There were smiling faces everywhere!"

The Dunrea Flea Market has its roots in the village of Dunrea, but grew to such proportions that it was moved to the Boissevain Ag Grounds.  The Boissevain Kinsmen and Kinettes Clubs host the annual event which takes place the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Everyone knows this is the one to come to!

McDonald says it's the sheer size of the flea market; the number of vendors and tables and the fact that it is the last one of the seasons that draws hundreds of people to Boissevian. "We have vendors inside the curling rink and the skating rink, as well as outside, so people can just mull around and there's absolutely everything for everybody!"

This year boasted 116 vendors!

Through gate admission alone, the Boissevain clubs raised close to $9,000, and this is without the vendors' admission fees!  Total funds raised is divided between the Boissevain Kinsmen and Kinettes.

McDonald is a member of the local Kinettes Club.  "We are donating to the pool," she says. "We've already put in some money, and this will help to continue those funds to the brand-new pool! So, we're pretty excited!"

On behalf of the two clubs, McDonald wishes to thank everyone who helped out for the day, including the Brandon Kin Clubs and the Neepawa Kin Clubs. "It was definitely a group effort, and we just want to thank everyone for coming out and to those who helped volunteer for the day!"
