Beginning today, in the evening and lasting till the first week of October, motorists should expect significant slowdowns in both directions on the QEII.

On Monday, September 11, lasting till Friday, September 15, there will be two lanes closed in both directions on the QEII in the vicinity of the 40th Avenue overpass. The Northbound shoulder and center lane will be closed, as well as the Southbound shoulder and center lane. These lane closures will begin at 9 p.m. and last till 6 a.m. each day, in order to facilitate stripping brackets, as well as finishing work for the QEII overpass.

While the weekend will see no lane closures, more lane closures are also slated for the next week. On Monday, September 18, lasting till Friday, September 22, there will also be lane closures. There will be two lanes closed in both directions; the Northbound median and center lane, as well as the Southbound median and center lane. These lane closures will begin in the evening on Monday at 9 p.m. and last each day until 6 a.m. The closures are also meant to help facilitate stripping brackets, as well as finishing work for the QEII overpass.

Also during the week of September 18, till September 22, there will be additional lane closures in both directions. Beginning at 9 a.m. on September 18 and lasting till 3 p.m. each day, there will be one lane closed in each direction. Both the Northbound median lane as well as the Southbound median lane will be closed to help facilitate median crossover removal and grading.

At the beginning of October, from Monday, October 2 until Friday, October 6, there will be two lanes closed in both directions. The Northbound median and center lane as well as the Southbound median and center lane will be closed from 9 p.m. till 6 a.m. each day. These closures are meant to help facilitate high mast pole installation.

According to an updated Milestone schedule by The City of Airdrie, by mid-October, the 40th Avenue Overpass should be open to traffic.
