In a heartfelt Facebook post, renowned Christian author, speaker, and disability advocate Joni Eareckson Tada shared the good news of her recovery after a challenging 16-day stay in the hospital due to double pneumonia. “God rescued me!” she exclaimed, echoing the sentiments of countless individuals grappling with health issues.
“After 16 days in the hospital struggling with double pneumonia, I am home, happy, healing, and resting,” she wrote, adding, “The hospital provided oxygen for me, but it’s only temporary.”
Her message conveys not just gratitude for her recovery but also the profound impact of her faith during these trying times. She gave special thanks to her husband, Ken, and several close friends for their unwavering support throughout her hospitalization. “They made sure I rested,” she mentioned appreciatively.
Tada says she drew strength from the words of Isaiah 43:1-2, which reads, “Do not be afraid, for you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.” She highlighted that this promise from God accompanied her during every medical procedure, from scans and x-rays to blood draws and breathing treatments.
Highlighting the significance of her ordeal, she emphasized the importance of the mission at "Joni and Friends". She shared, “The entire experience reminded me of how critical it is to share the salvation message of Jesus with the families we serve. It’s why we do what we do at Joni and Friends.”
