This week, the Thursday Thunder Player of the Week for the Airdrie Techmation Thunder is 19-year-old Austin White.

White, from Airdrie, has played hockey in the city for many years playing for teams like the CFR Brison and the AA Airdrie Lightning.

Last Friday and Saturday, the Thunder started and kept their winning streak going. On Friday, the Thunder played the Mountain View Colts, the Thunder came away with a 4-2 win. Saturday night, White got the start in the net when the Thunder beat the Strathmore Wheatland Kings 4-2.

"On Saturday night, He was unreal with saves and leading the team to victory stopping 37 of 39 shots,"  stated Airdrie Thunder Head Coach Randy Buckle.

So far this season, White has a record of 1-3, a 3.75 goals-against average and a .888 save percentage.

"Overall as a team, it was a tough start. But now that the team's coming together, and everyone's bonding a little more, we've started to pick it up and it makes my job as a goalie a lot easier," stated White.

White hopes the team is able to keep their three-game winning streak going and turn this early season around.

"I would love to go as far as we can and hopefully make the playoffs. But if we can just keep progressing and taking every game at a time, I think we will get a lot better."

In his second year with the team, White stated he does plan on staying with the Thunder for the next few years as he would love to stay home.

Airdrie's record is now 3 -7 this season. They'll hope to extend their winning ways this coming Friday night when they host the Rocky Rams at 8:00 p.m. at the Ron Ebbesen. The Rams are second in the North but are now just five points up on Airdrie.
