Clara Audrey Horning


With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, the family of Clara Horning, say goodbye to our beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on November 1, 2023 at the age of 89 years.


Clara is lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years Robert, her three sons; Byron (Sherryl), Kevin, Bradford (Colleen), her siblings; Bernice Markle, Yvonne Craig, Ed (Carol) and Tom (Marlaine). Clara was preceded by her parents Robert & Rose Carson (nee Brown), brother James (Grace sister Sylvia Broen (Elmer) brothers William and Robert, brothers-in-law Rod Markle and Garry Douglas.


She will be greatly missed by her most prized treasures, her grandchildren; Keith (Genna), Crystal (Brody), Kyle, Terry (Karmen), Chase (Sarah), Keelin (Johl) and Logan (Julya). Also, her great loves, her great-grandchildren; Kaydance, Seth, Brinley, Ty, Arie, Brecken, Lincoln, Londyn and Oliver.


She also leaves to mourn her in-laws; Ulmer (Gail), Wally (Dorothy), Jeanny Douglas, Vivian Dowhy (Dave) and Terry (Tracy). As well as the many lives that she touched with her caring manner.


May her spirit continue to inspire us to be kind, caring and passionate in all that we do. Rest in peace dear mum, Clara, your memory will live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to have known you.


Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will follow at a later date.


Please join the family for a Celebration of Clara’s life at the Army Navy Air Force #372, Elie, MB on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Portage & District General Hospital for their kindness and support during her illness.


In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to Central Plains Cancer Services, 318 Sask. Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8.
