Simulated tornado tests regional response in Rocky View County
Crossfield and Rocky View County staged a full-scale emergency simulation on Thursday, which was built around a mock tornado that damaged property, displaced livestock, and triggered a mass evacuation.
The May 8 exercise, mandated under Alberta's Emergency Management Act, unfolded across multiple locations and tested how agencies coordinate during a simulated regional disaster.
Home destroyed in Crossfield fire; Airdrie and Crossfield firefighters responded
Fire crews from both the Town of Crossfield and the City of Airdrie responded to a structure fire Wednesday morning that destroyed one residence.

According to Crossfield town officials, a structure fire that was being attended by fire crews earlier this morning has been extinguished.
"Saskatchewan Street is now open to local traffic only (residents in the immediate area). A fire truck will remain on scene to monitor the site. Please be respectful of barricades surrounding the property," officials noted in a Wednesday afternoon update.
Earlier this morning, Crossfield fire crews were on the scene of a structure fire in town.

Crossfield residents could be affected by a clawback of rural carbon rebate payments after the Canada Revenue Agency confirmed the town falls within Calgary’s metropolitan boundary.
