Winston High Wildcats football team are preparing to chase after a provincial title
Redemption is on the minds of the Winston High School Wildcats football team in Watrous as they begin the 2024 season.
The Wildcats provincial championship hopes were dashed in the 2A 6-Man Provincial Final last year against Clavet.
Last week, the team began practicing ahead of their first game in Assiniboia on Friday, September 5.
Bruno Merchants fall to 0-2 at National Fast Pitch Championship
The Bruno Merchants are competing in the 2024 National Mens Fast Pitch Championships in Saskatoon at the Gordie Howe Complex this week.
Bruno's record at the tournament dropped to 0-2 on Thursday afternoon following a 16-0 loss to the Bear Creek Express.

It will be a first-place battle between the two clubs with the Roughriders (5-5-1) leading the Blue Bombers (5-6) and BC Lions (5-6). A win by the Roughriders would clinch the season series against Winnipeg and give the green and white the important tiebreaker.
Humboldt Emergency Services Charity Golf Tournament returns Sept. 5
Humboldt Fire and Rescue, local RCMP, Humboldt and District Ambulance Service and the local conservation officer are partnering up for the annual Humboldt Emergency Services Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 5 at the Humboldt Golf Course.
Chief of Protective Services Mike Kwasnica says the proceeds of the tournament will help out some local projects.

Watrous coming together to help Winston High School breakfast program
The Town of Watrous, Manitou Golf Course and Watrous Winterhawks hockey team are coming together for a great cause.
Since Winston High School did not receive their grant for their breakfast program, the three organizations have partnered up together to create a raffle with the proceeds going to the breakfast program.
Recreation Director Chelsea Murfitt says the breakfast program provides an important service.
HCI Mohawks football team back on the gridiron
School doesn’t start for another week, but class is back in session for the Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) Mohawks Football team.
The squad began practicing last week, as they begin preparations for a brand-new season that kicks off in less than two weeks.
Head Coach Eric Anderson is eager for the new campaign to begin, noting that this year’s edition of the Mohawk football team will be a youthful athletic group.
