In Senior ‘A’ provincials, the Drake Canucks were eliminated by the Loreburn 19ers on Saturday as Loreburn defeated Drake 6-5, winning the best of three series 2-0.
The Wynyard Monarchs now know their opponent in the second round of provincials following a first-round bye, as they will meet the Round Lake Bears. The Bears advanced with a two-game sweep of the Balcarres Broncs.
Broncos pick up three points over the weekend
Friday: Battlefords 5 Humboldt 1
The Broncos may want to immediately throw out the game tape from Friday’s 5-1 loss to the Battlefords North Stars, and after a 9-game point streak, they’ve had a small set back, dropping two-straight.
It came down to effort at the Access Communications Centre, Battlefords simply wanted it more. It was no surprise the North Stars were hungry entering the game as the Broncos handed them a 10-3 beatdown in the meeting prior. The surprising part was Humboldt didn’t seem ready for it.
SJHL's Notre Dame Hounds set to relocate to Warman
After 38 years in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), the Notre Dame Hounds are set to move to Warman for the 2025-26 season.
The SJHL has conditionally approved the move, with the relocation contingent upon approval from the Warman’s City Council along with a successful season ticket drive and corporate sponsorship drive.

Futuristic Industries choir prepares for Telemiracle performance with fundraising concert
The Futuristic Industries choir will hold their final tune-up before they perform on the grand stage at Telemiracle 49.
Their third annual fundraising concert is set for Friday, February 28 at the Community Gathering Place at 7:00.
Also performing will be Ray Whitton, Walter Bushman, Lady Friday, Jimmy Matieschen, Jessica Ehr and Jocelyn Ehr.
No love lost between Broncos and North Stars as they finish off their season series
It may be Valentine’s Day, but there will be no love in the air in Battlefords tonight as the Humboldt Broncos finish off their season series against the North Stars this weekend with one final home-and-home set.
Tonight will mark the seventh matchup between the two clubs. After splitting the first four matchups, the Broncos were able to sweep the two-game series on January 31 and February 1. Humboldt leads the series 4-2-0-1.

Local rinks will be busy this weekend with several senior hockey teams in action in both provincial and league playoffs.
With the first round of the Long Lake Hockey playoffs in the books, the league playoffs will hit the pause button with provincial playoff action.
On Friday, In the Provincial ‘A’ category, the Drake Canucks will host the Loreburn 19ers in game two of their best of three series. Loreburn won game one 5-2, if Drake wins tonight, game three would be on Saturday night in Drake.
