The East Central 15U AAA Dodgers lost a high scoring matchup at home, with a 12-10 loss to the Saskatoon Brewers on Monday night. 

Luke Manz and Jaxson Schleper each had a pair of RBIs at the plate. Schleper led all Dodger hitters with three hits at the plate. 

The Dodgers were leading 6-1 heading into the top of the 4th inning before the Brewers scored four runs to cut the deficit to one. The Dodgers added three runs before the Brewers took the lead with five runs in the top of the 7th.

To create affordable multi-unit housing like apartments or townhouses, Humboldt City Council has begun the process of rezoning a couple of pieces of land to allow the development of these types of properties. 

At last month’s meeting, city council gave first readings to zoning amendments that would allow the possibility for development of new multi-unit housing units in Humboldt.  

With a growing community, Lanigan hopes to expand their offering of programs and social events.  

There is a survey now online asking residents to complete that would allow the Recreation Department an understanding of what interests Lanigan.  

The survey asks what new programs and social events for community members to participate in among other questions.

A vision became a reality at Batoche. 

Last week, the Dumont Lodge opened its doors as the facility continues to build the connection between elders and youth and help preserve the Metis history. 

The lodge idea originated from Elder Albert LeClair about two years ago, as he wanted the Riel scouting program to learn more about their Metis history. 

Vice-President of Metis-Nation of Saskatchewan, Michelle LeClair explains passing down the knowledge.  

“Where youth learn about the cultural ways that have been lost as a result of not passing it along.”  

The minimum wage in Saskatchewan will be increasing to $15 later this year on October 1.  

Back in 2022, the Government of Saskatchewan would be increasing the minimum wages in intervals during a two-year period. In 2022 the minimum wage was increased from $11.81 to $13, followed by a $1 increase each year following until the minimum wage reached $15. 

With summer well underway, Humboldt celebrated the beginning of the season with Summer Sizzler last week.

Between 4,000-6,000 people took in the events throughout the three days of activities. After a wet start to the midway in Humboldt, the weather cooperated for the final two days.

Along with the midway, Boldt Con was a draw throughout Saturday.

This year's Canada Day festivities were tied up with the event, including speeches from dignitaries followed by cupcakes. 

With the Saskatchewan Roughriders sporting their retro jerseys, it felt like a blast from the past on Thursday night. For the first time since 2013, the Roughriders have opened the regular season with a 4-0 record following a 30-23 win over the Toronto Argonauts. 

Saskatchewan’s defence generated five turnovers, including snagging four interceptions from Argos QB Cameron Dukes.  

The Humboldt Gallery will be holding an opening reception for a pair of new exhibits this weekend.

Humboldt CO-OP has provided an update on the recent cyber security incident. 

The cardlocks are back up and running as of last night system wide. 

They are currently stocked up in dairy. 

In terms of produce, alternative suppliers have been contacted and being used. 

Federated Co-op says that will be continuing updating management on the situation as it unfolds. 

43 members of the Humboldt Hammerheads swim team competed in Watrous this past weekend. It was a successful weekend for the squad with several members achieving personal best records.
