SPSA extends PDAP deadline for those affected by wildfires
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) announced that the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) will extend all deadlines to submit claims cost by one year to help with wildfire recovery.
Individual applications are required to be submitted within six months of the disaster.
Eight sacks are great as Roughriders beat Elks 21-18
With scorching temperatures on Friday night, the only thing generating as much heat as the evening sun was the Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive line, causing havoc with eight sacks, on their way to a 21-18 win over the Edmonton Elks.
It was a low scoring start with the Elks leading 4-1 after the first 15 minutes.
The Roughriders pulled ahead in the second quarter with a 15-yard touchdown reception from Samuel Emilus.
Bruno Show and Shine: A Day of rides and smiles
Roaring engines and shining chrome rolled into the Bruno on Sunday for the 19th edition of the Show and Shine.
Despite a grim forecast leading up to the event, well over 100 vehicles lined themselves on the grass infield inside of the Bruno Sports Ground that attracted spectators from around the region for a day of free fun.
There is no doubt the future of the car show is in good hands, with exhibitors like 11-year-old Cohen Weiman of Bruno.
Close but no crown for Dodger baseball squads
Two teams from Humboldt were in the running this past weekend at the Saskatchewan Baseball Provincial Championships.
Both teams came up just a little short in their pursuit of championship glory.
A provincial run that spanned two weekends came to an end in the gold medal game for the 15U AA East Central Dodgers.
Punnichy RCMP trying to locate missing female *Update* Located Safe
Update July 28- Brooklyn Wolfe has been located safe
Punnichy RCMP are attempting to locate 22-year-old female, Brooklyn Wolfe.
They received a report on Wednesday that she was missing.
Brooklyn was last seen on Muskowekwan First Nation in May of 2025.
Regional parks across Saskatchewan to benefit from $1M provincial investment
Regional parks in the province will have now access to a grant for expansion of their campground with the announcement of a one-million-dollar investment from the Saskatchewan government.
The Saskatchewan Regional Parks Association (SRPA) will run the new program and distribute grants to successful projects.
An official announcement was held at McNab Park near Watson on Friday.
Northeast farmers see crop gains after weekend rainfall
The rainfall that fell over the weekend was viewed as positive by most producers, according to the latest Crop Report from the Ministry of Agriculture.
Inside of the northeastern region, the rain and smokey weather have allowed crops to maintain their development and, in some cases, allowed crops to stand out.
However, scattered showers did cause some delays in haying and spraying operations.

Cody Fajardo will be wearing a different shade of green tonight as he makes his first start as an opponent since leaving the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Roughriders host the Edmonton Elks, who have made a quarterback change, electing to replace Tre Ford with the former Roughriders quarterback.
18U AAA Red Sox open provincial championship with a walk-off loss to Sask Five Marlins
The East Central 18U AAA Red Sox dropped their first game in the 18U AAA Provincial Championship on Thursday afternoon, losing to the Sask Five Marlins 2-1.
It was a walk-off win for the Marlins, scoring a run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Sask Five opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first inning.
15U AAA Dodgers unable to recover from early deficit in loss to the Astros
Last night the 15U AAA East Central Dodgers fell into a hole early and couldn’t recover as they were defeated by the Saskatoon Astros 11-3.
The Astros scored six runs in the top of the first inning to grab a sizeable advantage early in the contest.
East Central responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, but the Astros regained the six-run lead scoring a pair in the top of the second inning.
