2025 Saskatchewan Roughriders schedule released

 
After weeks of anticipation, the 2025 schedule for the Canadian Football League (CFL) regular season has been released. 

The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be the host of the first regular season game in 2025 when they welcome the Ottawa Redblacks on Thursday, June 5. 

They will hit the road for the first time on Sunday, June 14 when they travel to Hamilton to meet the Tiger-Cats.  

Blowing snow and extreme cold temperatures is heading our way

After a couple of pleasant days, the bitter side of winter is set to return. 

On Thursday a low-pressure system will move into Saskatchewan, which should bring a heavy snowfall into the northern portion of the province. 

Danielle Desjardins meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada says 15-20 cm of snow could fall in the Buffalo Narrows and La Ronge areas on Thursday. 

Broncos will try and bounce back in the win column against the Hounds

With the trade deadline now in the rearview mirror, the Humboldt Broncos attention is now aimed at finishing within the top eight spots of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League standings to claim a playoff position. 

2025 has been a slow start for the Broncos, following an overtime loss to the Kindersley Klippers, the green and gold suffered back-to-back losses against the Flin Flon Bombers at the Elgar Petersen Arena on the weekend.  

Pinnacle and Tankard to combine for one big Saskatchewan Curling event in Kindersley

Two big provincial curling championships have merged into one mega Saskatchewan event. 

For the first time, both the Viterra Pinnacle (formerly the Scotties) and SaskTel Tankard will be played concurrently at the same place. 

Kindersley will be the site of both events from January 21-26.  

Alberta clipper system to bring snow and more winter activity to the area

A fresh batch of snow should be arriving in Humboldt on Friday. 

A clipper system in Northern Alberta will be making its way into Saskatchewan and will bring precipitation to the province.  

Chris Stammers, Meteorologist Environment Canada says some light snow will begin to fall in Humboldt in the afternoon, but the significant snow activity will occur during the evening, where we could 2-4 cm in total.
