Chinook’s Edge prepares for spring budget and new trustees
At their meeting on February 4, the trustees of Chinook's Edge School Board discussed the spring budget process and created tools to help newly elected trustees succeed.
The Chinook’s Edge Board of Trustees reviewed an annual report outlining the division’s preparations for the upcoming spring budgeting process.
"The division has designed its process to prioritize fairness and transparency in the way resources are allocated. The Board supports the process," stated Chinook's Edge.

A major collision involving many vehicles had shut down the QEII southbound between Veterans Boulevard and Yankee Valley Boulevard but has since reopened.
Crews were on the scene tending to the situation.
Multi-Vehicle collision slows traffic on QEII
A multi-vehicle collision on Highway 2 northbound near Township Road 310 just south of the Didsbury overpass is causing delays.
Witnesses say it looks like a lorry attempted to cross the highway in this morning's heavy fog when several vehicles crashed into its side.
The slow lane remains clear, but drivers are urged to reduce speed and use caution in the area. Crews are on the scene.
There is no word yet on injuries or when the scene will be fully cleared.

Didsbury shares ice surface update for Memorial Complex
The Town of Didsbury has announced that the main ice surface at the Didsbury Memorial Complex will remain unavailable for the 2024/2025 season. Efforts to restore it with a rental chiller unit have failed.
The update was shared in a Friday press release, following weeks of work to implement the plan approved earlier this month.
UPDATE: Town of Didsbury facing multiple traffic delays
The previous traffic delays in and near the Town of Didsbury have been cleared.
According to a post, there was a semi-truck broken down at the Highway 582 junction (at the stop sign by the Zion Church). Traffic was being detoured down 10 Street (past the Rosebud Valley Campground).
Just a bit further east, still on Highway 582 going up the hill towards the 4-way stop/Highway 2A) a truck broke down.
Chinook's Edge trustees discuss technology, budget, and school calendar
Chinook's Edge School Division, the school district just north of Rocky View Schools Division, approved the 2025-26 school calendar, received the first quarter financial report and received a technology report.
The Board reviewed Chinook’s Edge's first-quarter financial report and evaluated the segment of the budget allocated to its operations. All revenues and expenditures align with the projections established earlier this year.
Didsbury forced to shut down arena and curling rink for the season
The Town of Didsbury has announced that the Didsbury arena and curling rink will be closed for the rest of the season.
According to a press release, the reason is due to an ammonia leak that was discovered in the condenser unit/cooling tower on the exterior of the facility during regular maintenance of the ice plant.
"The town's trusted contractor has advised that the condenser has failed and repairs are not an option."
According to the town, the condenser was scheduled for replacement in the 2027 budget, but that will now be completed in early 2025.
