D-Day ceremony set to celebrate sacrifice
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 56 will be hosting a service on Sunday to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of D-Day.
Members of the Legion will form at the cenotaph located in Memorial Park at 8:45 a.m. before the service begins at 9:00 a.m.
Public Relations Officer for Branch 56, John Griffin, explained why it is so important to remember this day each year.
Summer fun unleashed: Splash pads open for the season
The beginning of June in Swift Current also marks the beginning of splash pad season in the city.

Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes and heavy downpours can lead to flash flooding and water pooling on roadways.

Storm season rains down on southwest Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan residents can expect more rain this week as storm season settles into the prairies.
Environment Canada Meteorologist, Terri Lang, explained that storm season typically begins in May in southwest Saskatchewan.
“It usually starts in May and goes all the way through to September,” she stated. “We can get some early starts some years in April and sometimes it can linger on into October.”
Temporary curtain call for The Lyric Theatre
The Lyric Theatre’s historical building is in need of some immediate work related to fire and safety according to a notice from the City of Swift Current and the Swift Current Fire Department.
As a result of the immediate upgrades, the Lyric Theatre will be closing its doors to the public, performers, and staff until renovations are completed.

The CMX Powersports moto cross team wrapped up the third round of the provincial race circuit over the weekend, documenting an excellent day on the books.
Two riders on the team were able to snag a first-place position on Sunday.
