Massive firearm seizure has Swift Current Rural RCMP seeking Webb man

Swift Current Rural RCMP received a report of an unauthorized possession of firearms back in November 2022. 

Resulting from the investigation, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Webb on February 20, 2023. 

Officers located and seized 34 firearms, around 1,000 rounds of ammunition, 19 grams of methamphetamine and a sum of cash from the residence.

Ex-teacher from Maple Creek arrested again

A former Maple Creek teacher is now facing additional charges for historical sexual assault. 

Dexter Bacsu, was arrested again yesterday and charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference after an additional report was received by RCMP. 

The charges stem from a sports related trip involving an adult male and a male youth.

Former Maple Creek teacher charged with sexual assault

Maple Creek RCMP received a report of a historic sexual assault on April 25. Upon investigation, it was determined that an adult male sexually assaulted a male youth in the early 2000s, at a sport-related trip. 

The following day, on April 26, 64-year-old Dexter Bacsu was arrested and charged. 

Bacsu is facing one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference.

The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit has announced that they will be presenting a preliminary timeline of the events that took place at James Smith Cree Nation in early September, which left 11 individuals dead and 18 more injured.

On September 4, 2023, Myles Sanderson stabbed multiple people before going into medical distress and passing after shortly after being taken into custody.

Police on the lookout after several break and enter and thefts

Ponteix RCMP received a complaint on Wednesday, April 26, about multiple break and enter and thefts in the village of Vanguard.

Multiple buildings were broken into and cash was taken.

The instances are still under investigation by RCMP.
