Kub Kar rally rolls through Swift Current
Creative engines were revving over the weekend for the return of Scouts Canada’s Kub Kar and Scout Truck Rally.
Located in the Swift Current Mall, the event provides Scouts, Cubs, and Beaver members to display and race their homemade vehicles.
Committee Chairperson and Scout Leader, Bobbi Dawn Legere, said the amount of work required for the cars and trucks varies depending on age.
Canadian sex offender pleads not guilty in United States
Convicted Canadian sex offender, Benjamin Martin Moore, who is currently facing charges on both sides of the border, recently pled not guilty to his charges in South Dakota.
Moore, who resided in Eastend at the time, became a focal point of RCMP efforts in early August 2022, after an amber alert was released involving his common-law partner's children.

Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for Swift Current and the surrounding area as near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring.
An area of dense fog has formed over western Saskatchewan this morning as a ridge of high pressure settles into the region giving very poor visibility in some locations.
Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.
Insurance fraudsters busted
SGI’s Special Investigation Unit (SUI) had their work cut out for them in 2022, identifying hundreds of fraudulent insurance claims.
As a result, SGI was able to save $5.8 million, allowing them to keep insurance rates lower for other customers.

One individual reported his vehicle missing to SGI. He claimed that the vehicle had been parked in front of his house with a spare key locked inside.
Stewart Valley School receives green light
The pieces are beginning to fall into place for the rebuilding of the Stewart Valley Schools after the building was demolished by a fire in August 2022.
On Tuesday, the Chinook School Division announced that the plans to rebuild the school had been approved by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education.
Chinook Board Chair, Kim Pridmore, elaborated on the plans for the new facility.
Labour force flourishing in Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan continues to see significant growth in the job sector as the province currently sits at the second-lowest unemployment rate in the country.
Figures released by Statistics Canada last week indicate that Saskatchewan has added 9, 400 more jobs since February of 2022 and 2,600 more jobs since last month, an increase of 1.6 percent.
Annual Elm tree pruning ban on the horizon

The ban, which is put in place to help stop the spread of Dutch elm disease in the American and Siberian Elm tree population, goes into effect on April 1.
Canada Post resumes delivery in Swift Current
Canada Post has officially cancelled the red delivery service alert that was issued for Swift Current yesterday.
Normal delivery has now fully resumed.
The alert was put into place due to inclement weather and freezing rain.
Spring weight restrictions return to Saskatchewan highways
It's that time of year once again when truckers are being advised to closely monitor their loads when using secondary highways across the province.
As of midnight, this morning, winter weight regulations on secondary highways were reverted to spring weight regulations.
