Insurance fraudsters busted
SGI’s Special Investigation Unit (SUI) had their work cut out for them in 2022, identifying hundreds of fraudulent insurance claims.
As a result, SGI was able to save $5.8 million, allowing them to keep insurance rates lower for other customers.

Case #1-
Delays on Highway #4
Hazardous winter conditions continue to wreak havoc on highways across the Southwest.
According to the highway hotline, a motor vehicle incident is currently slowing traffic on Highway #4.
The collision is located northwest of Stewart Valley in the Westbound lane.
Police are on-site and motorists should be prepared to stop.
Travel is still not recommended on the following highways in the southwest:
Highway #4 from Elrose to Swift Current
Highway #32 from Jct Highway #1 to Lancer
Highway #332 from Hazlet to Jct Highway #32
Buses suspend service
Due to icy road conditions, Swift Transit has cancelled all routes for the remainder of the day.
The cancellations are effective immediately.
Trans Canada reopens but winter conditions remain
The Trans Canada Highway has reopened after a portion of the highway was closed for several hours due to winter conditions.
Travel is still not recommended on many highways in the southwest, while winter conditions remain on other highways in the area.
Due to ice covered roads, travel is still not recommended on the following highways:
Highway #4 from Elrose to Jct Highway #343
Highway #1 from Swift Current to Rush Lake
Highway #363 from Jct Highway #4 to Neidpath

Team Saskatchewan faces sharp competition
Accounts Payable Supervisor for the City of Swift Current, Lisa Hagen, has returned to the prairies after representing Saskatchewan at the 2023 Canada Winter Games.
Hagen, who took on the position of the manager for the team Saskatchewan fencing team during the games in Prince Edward Island, said that the athletes brought their A-game to the competition.
Winter conditions shut down portion of Trans Canada highway
Ice, snow drifts, and winter weather has led to treacherous conditions on many Southwest highways.
The Trans Canada Highway is now closed from Carmichael to Rush Lake.
According to a post from the RM of Swift Current Fire Department, three semis were jackknifed on the highway in a short period of time.

More closures on Southwest highways
Saskatchewan highways are still seeing the effects of the winter storm that blew through the province over the weekend.
According to the highway hotline, travel is not recommended on several southwest highways, while Highway #1, west of Swift Current is temporarily closed.
Due to a motor vehicle collision on the Trans Canada Highway, in the Westbound lane, near Highway #32, both Westbound lanes are closed.
Motorists should be prepared to stop, with an estimated wait time of up to three hours.
No detour is established.
