Poll: Is TikTok a threat?

Last week, Canada issued a ban on the use of TikTok on government-issued mobile devices after concerns regarding privacy and cybersecurity about the app grow. 

TikTok is owned by the Chinese company Bytedance, which has maintained that it does not share data with the Chinese government and its data is not held in China. 

Last Monday, Treasury Board President Mona Fortier announced in a statement that the ban would take effect immediately, as the app presents a concerning risk. 

UPDATE: Suspicious vehicle spotted near Stewart Valley

The RCMP have located the vehicle and thank the public for assistance.

Swift Current Rural RCMP is requesting the public's assistance to locate a suspicious vehicle.

The vehicle was last seen in the Stewart Valley area.

The vehicle in question is a red 2004 Ford F150 with Sask plate 436MWH.

If seen, call 306-778-5550 or 310-RCMP.

Do not attempt to approach the vehicle.

Gymnasts vault to seventh place in Provincial Competition

Members of Swift Current Gelico Gymnastics travelled to Regina last weekend to represent the southwest at the Saskatchewan Winter Games. 

Swift Current’s Kayden Meyer and coach, Chantel Meyer, teamed up with members of Gymtastiks of Moose Jaw; Amara Cameron, Katelyn Sauer, Saige Buchanan, Jaylin Bevan, and coach, Lacey Smith, as Team Southwest, for the provincial competition.

Lisa Hagen, the account payable supervisor for the City of Swift Current, has entered a new role for the week as the manager for the team Saskatchewan fencing team at the Canada Winter Games. 

Subject of Canada-wide warrant apprehended in Saskatoon

The Saskatchewan RCMP Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team (WEST) received a request from the Saskatoon Integrated Intelligence Unit (SIIU) late last month to locate 36-year-old David Corte, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in relation to multiple outstanding charges issued in Quebéc.

In September 2022, Corte failed to comply with conditions related to his release before fleeing Quebéc.

The initial investigation led police to believe that Corte was likely in Saskatchewan.
